The Pays du Ternois has a rich and varied natural heritage. This can be appreciated in different places in different ways.
The Centre Permanent d'Initiatives pour l'Environnement (the local centre for environmental initiatives) in Auxi le Château offers sporting activities and excursions  to explore the Authie valley's rich and diverse natural and cultural heritage.

The Regional  Nature Reserves in Pays du Ternois safeguard the area's outstanding natural heritage and are a special place for discovering the natural environment and biodiversity.

The Villages in Bloom (Villes et Villages Fleuris) of Pays du Ternois reflect the efforts that have been made in the area to promote and encourage the development of green spaces and to improve the living environment for residents.

Geography :
The Authie valley is named after the river that shaped it. It crosses into two administrative areas: Nord Pas-de-Calais and Picardy; and into two French departments: Pas-de-Calais and the Somme. It includes several natural areas: The Pays de Montreuil and Pays de Ternois in the north and Pays de Ponthieu and Pays d'Amiénois in the south. 157 communes are established here.

Description :
The CPIE Val d'Authie offers you several relaxing holiday options in particularly well-preserved natural areas and sites, in the form of sporting activities and excursions that allow you to explore the rich and varied, natural and cultural heritage of the Authie valley.

Discovery activities: ponds, the water cycle, physical and biological aspects of waterways, reading the landscape and the forest, exploring the Authie valley, traditional games from Picardy, basketwork and more.

During the summer period, the CPIE organises public, "à la carte" activities and green workshops for young people on Wednesday afternoons.

The CPIE has a multi-disciplinary approach to the environment and structures its activities around three major themes:
- Research: offering consultancy and research services on the environment and heritage
- Development: taking action with its partners to complete projects
- Knowledge transfer: passing on its scientific, cultural and technical approach.
